Prawn (Shrimp) Toasts with Ham and Sesame Seeds Recipes

Ingredients : |
1 tsp dry sherry
1 tsp salt
1 egg white
1 tsp cornflour
500g cooked peeled prawns, deveined and
finely chopped
7 slices of white bread from a large
sliced loaf, with the crusts removed
2 tbsp sesame seeds
2 tbsp chopped cooked ham
oil, for deep-frying
parsley sprigs, to garnish |
Method :
- Place the sherry, salt, egg white
and cornflour in a bowl and mix until smooth.
- Stir in the prawns.
- Divide this mixture between the
bread slices, sprinkle with the sesame seeds and ham and press the
topping firmly into the bread, using the back of a spoon.
- Heat the oil to 350-375F or until
a cube of bread browns in 30 seconds.
- Deep-fry the toasts, a few at a
time, with the prawn side down.
- When the edges of the bread turn
golden, turn on to the other side.
- Fry until golden brown.
- Drain on absorbent kitchen paper
and cut each slice of bred into 4 squares.
- Arrange on a serving plate,
garnish with parsley and serve hot.
