Chicken Braised with Ginger and Star Anise Recipes

Ingredients : |
1 tsp
Sichuan peppercorns
2 tbsp
peanut oil
3cm x 2cm
fresh ginger, julienned
2 cloves
garlic, chopped
1kg
chicken thigh fillets, cut in half
80ml
Chinese rice wine
1 tbsp
honey
60ml light
soy sauce
1 star
anise |
Method :
- Heat a wok over medium heat, add
the peppercorns and cook, stirring to prevent burning, for 2-4
minutes, or until fragrant.
- Remove and lightly crush with the
back of a knife.
- Reheat the wok, add the oil and
swirl to coat.
- Add the ginger and garlic, cook
over low heat for 1-2 minutes, or until slightly golden.
- Add the chicken, increase the heat
to medium and cook for 3 minutes, or until browned all over.
- Add the peppercorns, wine, honey,
soy sauce and star anise to the wok, reduce the heat to low and
simmer, covered, for 20 minutes, or until the chicken is tender.
- Divide among four plates and serve
with steamed rice.
Ready to eat in 30 minutes
