Fish with Cardamom Recipes

fish steaks, about 2 cm thick

turmeric

onions

garlic cloves, chopped

natural yoghurt

pepper

chilies, chopped

oil

cardamom pods

cinnamon stick

Method :
  1. Wash and dry the fish.
  2. Sprinkle with turmeric and rub into the flesh.
  3. Slice 3 of the onions finely.
  4. Put the fourth one, peeled and roughly chopped, into the food processor.
  5. Add the garlic, yoghurt, pepper and chilies.
  6. Blend to a smooth paste and reserve.
  7. Put the oil in a pan and, when hot, add in the onion slices, cardamom and cinnamon.
  8. Cook until the onions are golden brown.
  9. Turn the heat down low and pour in the mixture from the food processor.
  10. Simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  11. Now add the fish steaks, scooping some of the sauce on top.
  12. They should be ready in 10 minutes, but test with the point of a knife they are ready as soon as the flesh is no longer translucent.

Serve 4

Any fish with firm white flesh will be suitable for this recipe. Serve with warm rice and salad.
